Abstract
Although Manufacturing systems evolve into smart factory, little has been known about how to apply modeling and simulation technology to the smart factory. Since smart factory has distinguishing characteristics such as item-level production control compared to traditional manufacturing systems, we should develop modeling and simulation method appropriate to it. We propose in the paper the Factory-In-the-Loop Simulation approach that integrates a physical manufacturing system with a simulator to improve the production efficiency such as product quality and production cost/time/quantity and explains the ongoing research.
