Abstract
As the number of service provider increases, a variety of DRM systems appears without supporting interoperability. The lack of interoperability in DRM systems causes inconvenience to customers especially when they want to play content through more than one device manufactured by different vendors. In this paper we propose a new method to support interoperability between different DRM systems. The proposed technique aims at building an open framework structure that satisfies the DRM vendor's requirements by enhancing security of DRM tools. In particular, we present a Tool Pack mechanism and associated message protocols, which allows us to preserve the critical information on the DRM tool's operation. In order to verify the reliability and feasibility of the Tool Pack technology, we present a test-bed system and describe each component in the system.
