Abstract
Due to the limitation of power budget in millimeterwave communication links, high-gain horn antennas are typically exploited instead of low-gain omni-directional antennas, especially for measurement campaign. To study millimeter-wave propagation characteristics, measured channels with a single set of narrow beamwidth antenna are required to synthesize wider beam width properties including omni-directional characteristics. In this paper, we summarize seven techniques to synthesize and compare the estimation results with actual wide-beamwidth antenna measurements. A measurement campaign has been performed in a two-room office environment. From measured data, we analyze the similarity of the channel parameters (e.g. received power and delay spread). Our experimental results show that the way adopting Bartlett beamformer performs better than simply combining of channel impulse responses (CIR).
