Abstract
In this paper, we propose architecture with SmartBidet and Agent embedded in videophone-based HomeServer for a ubiquitous and intelligent healthcare service. SmartBidet is a toilet stool with a urine measurement sensor that is connected to the videophone HomeServer. The SmartBidet serves as an ambient intelligent device to the users in the digital home and performs urinalysis of the user. The basic urinalysis is performed by an agent resided in the HomeServer and the result is displayed on the videophone screen and announced to the user in the restroom using the text-to-speech module. The detailed urinalysis and other medical diagnosis are performed by the hospital computing facilities over the healthcare information network. We illustrate three use cases that are categorized according to the criticality of the urinalysis. © Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg 2007.
