Abstract
In this paper we present the Magnode, a wireless sensor node which uses two magnetoresistive sensors separated by a distance of 11 cm for vehicle detection and velocity measurement. We address hardware design issues such as low-power design on a PCB level, power supply selection, and the influence of environmental conditions on the operation of the node. We also present results of field tests, where the node was used to measure vehicle velocity.
