Abstract
A low-cost novel antenna for radio frequency identification (RFID) tags mountable on metallic surfaces is presented. It is designed to work on a substrate FR4 that has a thickness of 3.2mm and relative permittivity of 4.6, and to operate from 902 to 928MHz. For easy impedance matching with various microchip impedances without major modification of the radiating element, the proposed antenna has the structure of the folded dipole type with two parasitism-patches. The proposed design is verified by simulation and measurement, which show good agreement. © The Institution of Engineering and Technology 2007.
