Abstract
SBAS (Satellite Based Augmentation System) transfers correction data and integrity information to receiver users with GEO (geostationary) satellite. This system provides an enhanced accuracy and a satellite navigation reliability to aviation users. USA, EU, India and Japan construct this system to improve a navigation performance in their region. As the application of satellite navigation is increasing, SBAS can be used in many fields in the future. Korea government decided to join the SBAS program and started to develop the SBAS. The title of Korea SBAS program is KASS (Korea Augmentation Satellite System). ETRI (Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute) involves in KASS project to develop a satellite uplink station. In this paper, we analyse the functions of uplink station of SBAS and draw requirements for uplink station of KASS. This analysis is important to fix developing strategy and helpful to process the developing step of design, implementation, test and verification.
