Abstract
Recently, as the development of 3D contents service, 4D media production which users can feel physical effects such as wind, temperature, vibration, light according to the time flow of movie has been increased. This kind of 4D media uses the Single Media Multiple Devices (SMMD) method to give users enhanced effects with multiple devices playing rather than the Single Media Single Device (SMSD) method with single device playing. To give more sensible effects to users, from the beginning of making 4D movies, we produced media that consists of multiple audio/videos related with the subject and Sensory Effect Metadata (SEM) to define effects of the scene. 4D media is transmitted to a home server to represent multiple audio/videos in multiple playback devices and 4D devices in a synchronized way. In this paper, we explained system concepts of 4D SMCaster (SMMD Media Caster), SEM scheme, system architectures, and how to represent 4D media in multiple 4D devices. © 2014 International Information Institute.
