Abstract
ETRI has been developing the Ka band antenna system for COMS(Communications, Ocean, and Meteorological Satellite) which will be launched at the end of 2008. The Ka band antenna system consists of two single offset reflectors and feed assemblies. This paper describes the results of antenna level CATR(Compact Antenna Test Range) test and range alignment for Ka band multi-beam antenna. The CATR test configuration for Ka band antenna system is introduced. The measured performance parameters, such as gain, side-lobe, cross-polarization discrimination, and cross-polarization isolation, etc. are described. Also, the CATR test results are compared with antenna NFR(Near Field Range) test results. Antenna pointing alignment accuracy is verified and the measured alignment data is presented. From the results of antenna CATR test, it can be concluded that the COMS Ka band antenna has an excellent electrical performance and complies with the required specification with good pointing alignment accuracy.
