- The purpose of this study is to design authoring tool that can augment the immersion and reality by using olfactory display in video. We analyzed the effect of combined modality and cross modality related to olfactory display, and derived parameters of olfactory display related to emotional factors. For purpose of this paper, first of all, we considered time from the release of a scent because smell is basically a slow media. And we considered scent intensity, scent persistence and hedonic tone as other factors. These factors should be so controlled that it can be in harmony with the existing media in order to augment emotion. We defined data format and designed scent display device through these analysis. And, we developed the authoring tool for emotion augmentation of video service. The developed authoring tool can synchronize olfactory display with the existing video service by using the proposed data format and the developed scent display device.
