Abstract
A new MDAS-DR antenna structure designed to efficiently shape a flat-topped radiation pattern (FTRP) is proposed. The antenna structure is composed of a stacked microstrip patch exciter and a multilayered disk array structure (MDAS) surrounded by a dielectric ring (DR) with a relative permittivity of 2.05. The MDAS-DR antenna designed at the band of 9.6-10.4 GHz was shown to be capable of shaping a good FTRP with a beam width of about 40째, at least within a fractional bandwidth of 8.0%. © 2008 IEEE.
