Advanced Smart TV 2.0 System and Services Based on HTML5

- Smart TV 2.0 is a differentiated TV service concept, in addition to smart TV 1.0, and includes multiscreen service, the active selection of users through community-based open services, an innovative user interface, and a home screen platform for various services. In this paper, we propose hardware and software platforms based on a set-top for realizing these Smart TV 2.0 services, and describe the test-bed environment for verifying the Smart TV 2.0 concept, including a portal App-Store. In addition, we describe the implementation of a set-top based on the Android platform and HTML5. The proposed advanced smart TV 2.0 services run normally on the newly designed set-top box.
