Abstract
Cladding pumped fibre lasers have been rapidly researched and developed with the help of semiconductor laser diode bars and stacks [1]. These fiber lasers, particularly Yb-doped double clad fiber lasers, have demonstrated a high power conversion efficiency of approximately 80% and a high-quality beam with M^2 ≈ 1. The output power of a fiber laser is determined by how effectively pump light can be coupled into the inner cladding layer of a double clad fiber. In this paper, we introduce an efficient pump beam combiner based on single mode fibres.
