Abstract
In this paper, an LTCC cavity backed array antenna in order to improve the radiation efficiency and bandwidth is proposed. LTCC cavity consists of several ground planes and dielectric layers with closely spaced metallic vias connected. It is shown that the size of an LTCC cavity has the effects on the performances of radiation and bandwidth for the antenna. This design is applied to Ferro A6 LTCC substrate. Typical properties of that substrate are the permittivity of 5.9, a loss tangent of 0.002 at 60GHz and one layer thickness of 100 mum.
