Abstract
Recently microlens arrays offer a unique enabling technology in critical domains such as sensors, communications, metrology, and back light unit(BLU), often providing solutions where other technologies prove unsuitable, unwieldy or cost-prohibitive. In this study, the PMMA microlens array for a BLU application was fabricated by an inkjet printing method. We studied the surface morphology and optical property of optical microlens array fabricated by using piezoelectric microchannel mounted nozzles to deposit polymer droplets to various substrates via drop-on-demand (DOD) fashion. The surface of substrates was modified chemically and physically to get a hydrophobic property.
