Abstract
We assess coexistence of DTV system and CRbased WRAN system using three different coexistence metrics: spectral efficiency, coverage efficiency, and area efficiency, based on coexistence scenario considering channel aggregation that each WRAN cell utilizes one frequency band or two frequency bands according to its geo-location. From simulation results it is observed that three metrics are significantly increased after spectrum sharing, and the area efficiency is more useful than spectral or coverage efficiency under spectrum sharing environment with respect to the number of available frequency bands and the available amount of given geographical area. In addition, with channel aggregation that enables CR-based WRAN system to utilize two frequency bands at the same time, the area efficiency is highly dependent upon the degree of overlap of two DTV cells.
