Abstract
A 2.6-3.4 GHz low-voltage voltage-controlled oscillator (VCO) with a boosted transconductance is presented. The proposed VCO operates with less current dissipation for oscillation start-up, being enabled to supply voltage reduction. The phase noise of the proposed VCO is improved by not entering in deep triode region of MOSFETs. Implemented in a 65-nm CMOS, the measurements results show 800 MHz of tuning range, consuming 1.56 mW at 0.6 V supply. The measured phase noise is -116 dBc/Hz at 1 MHz offset from a 3.3-GHz carrier. © 2012 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
