Abstract
Influenced by induced voltage that is routed nearby an electric railroad, communication line can have some troubles such as deterioration of communication quality, machine malfunction, and safety issues. This kind of induced voltage arises from magnetic coupling caused between railroad and communication line. At this point, communication line can have screening effect, if metals like structure or rail are located around. In this paper, the screening effect was quantitatively analyzed through experiments when a metallic pipe was routed near the communication line. The result of experiment conducted in high-speed railroad spot shows induced voltage measured 13% lower when a metallic pipe is routed near the communication line rather than not the case. This result can be utilized to analyze screening effect of metallic installations such as water pipe, gas pipe, bar of structure.
