Abstract
We propose a fast and accurate power estimation method for peripheral IPs using virtual platform. The power consumed by a peripheral IP depends on state changes. To minimize the performance degradation of the virtual platform, the time spent in each state was measured only when the state of the peripheral IP changes. The proposed method consists of two steps: 1) sensing the change of state registers, 2) calculating time duration spent in each state. As a result, the proposed method showed that only 1.9% of the simulation time was increased compared with the basic virtual platform.
