본 논문에서는 다중 레인 구조를 지원하는 40G/100G 이더넷에서 에너지를 효율적으로 사용하기 위한 선택적 레인 운용 기술을 제안한다. 제안한 기술은 저속의 레인들을 개별적으로 활성 또는 비활성 상태로 제어함으로써 전송률을 조절하고 소모하는 전력량을 효율적으로 절감할 수 있다. 또한 버퍼의 상태를 기반으로 대역폭을 동적으로 결정하는 전송률 제어 알고리즘을 설계한다. 제안한 알고리즘의 성능을 평가하기 위하여 10Gbps 레인 4개로 구성된 40G 이더넷 시뮬레이션 모델을 구현하고, 전송 링크의 이용률 및 큐잉 지연 등에 관한 성능을 분석하였다.
