Abstract
This paper presents the design of a 1×10 series feeding rectangular microstrip patch array antenna for 77 GHz automotive radar. The proposed antenna is designed based on the transmission line model analysis method. To satisfy the sidelobe level of-20 dB in E-plane, 20 dB Taylor distribution is applied to the proposed antenna. Considering the measurement environment, waveguide to microstrip transition is designed and combined with the antenna. To evaluate the antenna performance, a prototype of the proposed antenna is fabricated and tested. The measured-10 dB reflection coefficient bandwidth is 3.8% (75.04-77.95 GHz). The measured broadside gain and sidelobe level in E-plane at 76.5 GHz are 16.56 dBi and-17.2 dB. The simulated and measured results are in good agreement.
