Abstract
In this paper, we propose an improved method for generating a dense point cloud from aerial images captured by a UAV camera. The proposed method is based on a PMVS approach and generates a dense 3D points using a bidirectional pyramid images. This approach is suitable for the characteristics of the aerial image set when the distance between the camera and the subject is large. In addition, the proposed method uses an automatic sky masking technique to generate a clean reconstruction result free of noise components in the sky area. The proposed method is applied not only to open experimental images but also to UAV aerial images.
