Abstract
This paper introduces the application programming interface called WebVKc that allows in-browser applications to directly access Vulkan compute features at the device driver level. With web application developers using WebVKc they can benefit from hardware acceleration by harnessing most modern GPGPUs compatible with the Vulkan standard. This paper presents a prototype of a WebVKc-enabled browser running on an Androidpowered smartphone, and a benchmark using WebVKc shows the speedup of up to x2.75 over JavaScript. It means WebVKc can replace the outdated WebCL, a browser version of the OpenCL, on resource-constrained mobile devices and can be applied to head-mounted devices for the WebAR/WebVR
