Abstract
Necessity for Network based interoperable Point-to-MultiPoint (P2MP) control and non-payload communication (CNPC) technology and system is increased for safe integration of unmanned aircraft system (UAS) into national airspace. In this regard, ITU-R has globally allocated 5030-5091 MHz (C-band) frequency for CNPC at world radio conference 2012 (WRC-12). Differently from a conventional point-to-point (P2P) UAS CNPC system, a ground radio station of P2MP UAS CNPC system should simultaneously support a number of unmanned aircrafts (UAs) flying in three dimensional (3D) cell. In this paper, we propose optimum antenna configuration and 3D antenna beam pattern for a ground radio station (GRS) of P2MP UAS CNPC system.
