화학, 의학, 물리, 생물 등 다양한 분야에서 활용도가 높지만 거대한 자석과 제어장치로 인해 휴대할 수 없는NMR 장치를 소형 센서로 제작하기 위한 기본 개념을 제시하고, NMR 센서 프로브의 구성 요소인 자석과 고주파코일의 전산모사와 실제 설계, 제작을 통해 기본적인 특성을 살펴보았다. Nd-Fe-B 희토류 영구 자석은 직경 3~6 mm, 높이 1~7 mm의 다양한 크기로 제작하여 크기에 따른 자기장 세기를 조사하였다. CMOS 공정을 적용한 원형의 면-코일은 Al-1%Si 금속을 증착, 패턴닝 후 400°C에서 열처리하여 제작하였으며, 선폭 10 μm, 간격 2 μm, 외경 ~0.4 mm 크기로 제작되었고, 10.47 MHz에서 8.7 Ω/mm의 높은 저항 임피던스와 낮은 Q 값 (< 1)이 측정되었다. 한편, PCB 기술로 제작한 PCB 면-코일은 선폭 100 μm 이상, 외경 약 2 mm로 제작되었고, 10.27 MHz 에서 1 Ω 이하의 낮은 저항 임피던스와 4.85±0.18의 Q 값을 갖는 것으로 평가되었다.
