- Abstract
- Recently, studies on ETCS Level 3 have been increased. The ETCS Level 3 is a fully wireless communication system without any trackside equipment. Train integrity is a core technology to detect some abnormal conditions such as train separation. Until now, a fixed track circuit has been used to monitor train integrity. However, a new train integrity concept is needed for safe operating the trains replacing track circuits to achieve ETCS Level 3. This paper reviews new train integrity systems applicable on the ETCS Level 3 and presents major requirements of train integrity system for freight trains with absenting of power source.
