Abstract
The interactive satellite communications network based on DVB-RCS/RCS2 standard is becoming popular in the VSAT industry because of their open standard property. To make those technologies to have compatible efficiency to the proprietary technologies, much effort has been made in the literature. However, most interest has been paid into improving data throughput performance in terms of optimizing traffic burst allocation in diverse scenarios. In addition to the optimization for traffic burst management, we focus on the signalling bursts allocation to make the connections to users to be more stably synchronized. Typically, connection synchronization should be considered carefully in accordance with the system components parameters such as clock drifts in terminals and user population. However, in 2ur knowledge, this is the first analytical trial to focus on the signalling burst composition and allocation in the VSAT networks. We present analytical solutions to make selection how many signalling bursts to be composed in the frame structure and how to allocate them to each user. These solutions can be applied just one time at the planning stage or periodically at each scheduling step according to the framing policies. From these analysis, we believe that the signalling bursts can be more optimally placed and used in a frame structure than heuristically composed.
