IoT is accelerating with the mass adoption of new data acquisition networks after the pilot phase. There are many challenges that need to be solved at the same time as rapid evolution occurs. High reliability is important factor for most IoT applications such as machine control environmental monitoring, etc. The IEEE 1451 standard, which began in 1993, defines a common sensor interface and a transducer electronic data sheet (TEDS) for network-independent smart sensors and aims to improve the reusability and portability of the sensors used in various networks. The TEDS data contains calibration information so that a smart data system can adjust for variation and standardize the response. In this paper, we propose an ICT-based environmental data monitoring system that reads virtual device descriptor stored in the database and containing information corresponding to TEDS, and uses them to verify and correct sensor data using minimal information for sensor identification. Because the virtual device descriptor is stored on the server, the memory of the sensor device can be reduced and management is easier. This can reduce device cost and increase reliability.
