Abstract
In this paper a 3-layer layer division multiplexing based on amplitude shift keying(ASK) is proposed. The proposed 3-layer LDM modulation inserts a new ASK modulated signal between core layer and enhanced layer in 2-layer LDM in ATSC 3.0 system. Thus the proposed method has advantages in the reception of the newly added ASK signal, which has a simple signal processing in removing the upper layer QPSK signal from the received 3-layer LDM signal using the known magnitude information of QPSK. Therefore, the receiver of the proposed 3-layer LDM method is to have advantages in reducing the hardware complexities and the power consumptions. Therefore, it has a high possibility to be applied for a mobile broadcasting to handheld mobile devices with a limited battery power.
