Abstract
This paper presents handover delay mitigation method by steering handover parameters in association with a speed variation of train in high-speed railway systems such as Korean radio-based train control system (KRTCS). The handover delay time, standard deviation and minimum average handover delay time along with train speed variation have been evaluated and compared through computer simulations in the paper. As the results indicates, increase of handover delay at high speed mobility came from quick channel variations that exceed the variation range, although link adaptation and channel dependent scheduling in sub-band level was applied. This brings increase of handover delay as well. Hence, we can conclude that a better handover delay performance can be achieved from the dynamic control of offset values regarding both reference signal received power (RSRP) and reference signal received quality (RSRQ) depending on train speed.
