Abstract
Human-care service robot to cope with an aged society demands a service selection engine to provide an appropriate service to the elderly user in various and dynamic environments. The service selection engine for human-care robot processes information hierarchically by using diverse raw data collected by the robot, and at the last stage, selects a service to be provided to the user according to rules designed by a human-care expert. In this paper, we describe a service selection engine for human-care service robot using ROS that can provide mechanisms to generate hierarchical knowledge in a hybrid form of machine learning and inferential rules and to select a service based on the generated knowledge.
