Abstract
As the demand and the supply of ultra-high definition broadcasting service increase, a burden of installing separate transmitters for new services has become lots of pressure. To solve a cost problem and support high quality broadcasting service, the wideband reuse-1 (WiB) transmission method to use entire UHF band as one transmission bandwidth was proposed. However, when using the WiB system, interference caused by other transmitters cannot be avoided because all transmitters share the same UHF band. To overcome co-channel interference problem, we propose a wideband time-division multiplexing (TDM) transmission method and analyze the proposed system based on DVB-T2 (digital video broadcasting - second generation terrestrial) platform. Through the analyzed data rate and power consumption according to a constellation, we present efficient TDM transmission parameters that can achieve a similar data rate to that of the conventional digital terrestrial broadcasting with less power consumption.
