This paper demonstrates X-band microstrip ferrite coupled isolator fabricated through the integration of microstrip circulator and load resistor on a polycrystalline yttrium iron garnet. Transmitting and receiving-ends of TRM module in X-band radar system can be combined through circulator or isolator devices. Especially, microstrip isolators are usually applied to enhance the isolation between the receiving part and power transmitting part. In power transmitting part, the devices can be applied to prevent the severe damage caused by the reflect signal from the amplifier in case of the incorrect load impedance. In receiving part, the devices deliver the prevention of local oscillation and good impedance match for the transmission line coming from the antenna [1]. The fabricated microstrip isolator exhibited the insertion loss of 0.63 dB, return loss of 14.3 dB and Isolation of 17.2 dB at 9.5 ~ 10 GHz [2]. The more detailed characteristics will be presented later.
