다양한 셀들이 밀집 배치될 것으로 예상되는 5G 이동통신 네트워크에서 비용 효율적인 기지국 설치 및 커버리지 확보를 위한 솔루션이 요구된다. 이를 위해서 3GPP에서는 광대역의 밀리미터파 주파수를 액세스 링크 및 백홀 링크로 가변적으로 활용하여 다중홉 기반의 무선 백홀 링크 기능을 제공할 수 있는 액세스 백홀 통합네트워크 기술에 대한 표준화를 진행중에 있다. 본 논문에서는 5G 이동통신 무선 접속 네트워크의 구조를 기반으로 전송망의 복잡성을 증가시키지 않고 유연한 5G 셀 배치가 가능하며, 실내외 소형셀 배치뿐만 아니라 커버리지 확장과 같은 시나리오도 가능한 IAB 표준화 동향에 대해서 기술한다. 특히 본 논문에서는 3GPP Rel-16애서 표준화가 진행되고 있는 IAB 네트워크의 표준화 동향 및 기술 이슈에 대해 기술한다.
