Abstract
This paper proposes the design and experimental evaluation of weighting function in position-domain based GPS/WLAN hybrid positioning. To solve the poor positioning accuracy in indoor-outdoor transition area, firstly we analyze both GPS and WLAN positioning error distribution and then suggest the step function as weighting function in order to minimize the positioning error. The result is promising, but still more to enhancements are anticipated. We figure out that the step function as weighting function works well through experimental evaluation. Furthermore we achieve the acceptable positioning accuracy (about 15m CEP) under indoor-outdoor transition area by using GPS/WLAN hybrid position method in which the suggested weighting function is applied.
