Abstract
This report presents the proof-of-concept demonstration of a 22-GHz based vehicular communication system over an urban roadway testbed. The testbed consists of three different cell sites along main roads and a vehicle with a terminal equipment. Each cell site has base station equipment including a baseband modem and two sets of RF transceiver and antenna designed and implemented in the 22 GHz band. The vehicle has the terminal equipment that is comprised of a baseband modem and six sets of RF transceiver and antenna. Functionality and performance have been checked and tested over the testbed. Upon the functionality check, cell searches and beam switching have been proved out to function properly. Downlink data rates of 1.9 - 2.5Gbps have been achieved by system optimization during the performance test while the vehicle ran through the urban roadway.
