Abstract
The purpose of this paper is to generate snow-covering effects in real time for city models as post effects. Existing snow-covering effect generation technologies require various weather data and require a lot of execution time. Our algorithm creates a snow-covered map in real time based on inputs that can be directly obtained from the surface color and normal vector targeting a city model reconstructed based on photogrammetry consist of a texture and a mesh. We implemented our algorithm based on the GPU, and it shows that it works in real time. It is expected to be applied to various real-time applications as well as virtual city tour online service.
