Abstract
Nowadays, millimeter wave (mmWave) communication technology with ultra-high transmission rate is the key to drive high-speed railway (HSR) communication in the fifth-generation (5G) mobile communication system. However, mmWave propagation is affected by various meteorological factors, and therefore, their impacts should be considered and included in the design of mmWave communication link. In this paper, the methods of calculating various meteorological attenuation are briefly introduced. Then, the channel at 30 GHz in a typical HSR scenario is simulated. Based on the simulation results, the effect of meteorological attenuation on the large-scale parameters of the mmWave channel is calculated and analyzed.
