Abstract
Fall accidents in the construction site occur more than 40% among all industry fall accidents in Korea. The most fundamental way to prevent the fall accident is the worker to lock the safety hook properly. However, workers may occasionally forget and fail to lock the safety hook which could lead to an accident. Therefore, safety managers demand a system that can check whether the worker at remote site has locked the safety hook properly. Whenever the safety manager recognizes the unlocked hook, he can instruct the worker to lock it. Therefore, several safety devices have been developed to monitor the hook status. However, previous devices are less practical in real construction environment where many temporary structure and weak telecommunication signal exists. In this regard, we developed a safety hook monitor system with portable network repeaters. These repeaters can be easily deployed and collected in changing construction environment. The system is tested in real construction site, and the hook status from the remote worker was successfully transmitted to the manager's mobile App within few seconds.
