Abstract
In this paper a 4-layer LDM modulation based on PN sequence is proposed. The proposed 4-layer LDM modulation inserts PN sequences on the existing ASK-based 3-layer LDM signal. The newly added 4th layer signal, PN sequences, are removed by SIC before receiving the 3-layer LDM signal. Thus the proposed method has advantages in the reception of the newly added 4th layer PN sequence signal and that of the existing 3-layer LDM signal. Through the BER analyses, the influences of PN sequences on the existing 3-layer LDM signal are shown after PN sequence removal. And the detection performances of the 4th layer PN sequences are shown and their data rate are discussed in the point of the applied PN sequence length.
