Abstract
If the automated vehicle fails to drive automatically, the human driver must control the vehicle. The driver readiness just before switching to manual drive can affect the take-over performance. The non-driving related task is related to the driver readiness. In this study, we measured the subjective driver readiness after finishing to reengage the vehicle control by receiving a TOR (Take over Request) while performing three different types of tasks. The result show that the driver readiness is related to NDRT types the he or she performed, so that before the TOR, it is necessary to help the driver maintain the proper level of driving readiness.
