Abstract
With the explosive increase of internet data traffic as well as the computing power of ICT devices, power and energy saving technology has always been a main concern and it will be more important with the advent of new server design. But there has been little research of how to control dynamic power and energy for servers, especially for heterogeneous systems. In this paper, we propose a dynamic power and energy management technique for servers. The proposed scheme is evaluated with both x86 and ARM servers, considering modern heterogeneous server environments. It improves power and energy efficiency by up to 29% in our evaluation with officially certified benchmark.
