Abstract
In this paper, we propose a location-aided user clustering and power allocation strategy for non-orthogonal multiple access in a multi-user scenario. Specifically, we exploit the location information of the users to improve the total system sum-rate. This is achieved by first clustering the users based on the available location information at the base station. Such clustering enables the inter-cluster interference to be suppressed with orthogonal beam design. Next, a location-aided power allocation strategy is derived using the Lagrange approach to ensure the sum-rate maximization of the user equipment in each cluster. The performance of the proposed scheme is verified by simulation, and the results show that the proposed location-aided power allocation scheme can improve the system sum-rate compared to the conventional multi-user beamforming systems.
