Abstract
In this paper, we evaluate the performance of LoRa in a Low-Earth Orbit (LEO) satellite channel by designing the link level simulator and investigate its applicability to satellite IoT networks. LEO satellite channel is modeled considering satellite coverage, velocity, elevation angle, and doppler shift. We analyze the packet error rate (PER) of LoRa for various spreading factors and frequency offsets. Simulation results show that LoRa has robust performance under the severe Doppler frequency offset conditions.
