Various applications using multi parameter water quality measurement devices are being actively studied. The multi parameter water quality measurement device for lakes, rivers, rivers and seas plays a role in generating real-time measurement data, and is used to predict algal blooms including water pollution. Pontoon installed and operated in Lake Dae-cheong to generate basic data for algal monitoring and prediction is configured to transmit the water quality data of the multi parameter water quality measurement device to the server through the NB-IoT communication network. The communication protocol was configured to operate by applying the two-way and polling communication method, and after pretesting in the lab., it was installed at the test bed site (Dae-cheong Lake Hoenam Bridge and Chuso-ri area) around October 2019 and has been operating normally until now. During the initial trial period of installation, the NB-IoT communication network frequently missed data collection due to time delay and TCP socket connection maintenance issues. In this study, the development and performance of a communication protocol for bidirectional data collection through the NB-IoT communication network were analyzed.
