Abstract
This paper implements a clock synchronization system based on IEEE 1588v2 PTP on Xilinx Zynq-7000 SoC platform. The implemented system supports two-step PTP messaging and P2P path delay mechanisms, and a hardware timestamping method is applied in the system to achieve nanosecond level clock synchronization. The performance evaluation results show that the system can provide a high synchronization accuracy of 1{s}, which is the synchronization requirements for factory automation applications. In addition, it is shown that the synchronization performance depends on the frequency of Sync message transmission and the Sync message should be transmitted frequently enough if high level of synchronization is required.
