Abstract
We consider the hybrid beamforming design for cell-free millimeter-wave massive multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) systems. Sum spectral efficiency maximization problem is formulated and solved by the two-step approach that first determines the analog beamformers maximizing sum of beamforming gains, and then obtains the digital precoders by using the generalized power iteration based algorithm. System-level simulation results demonstrate that the proposed method outperforms the conventional methods including maximum ratio transmission (MRT) and zero-forcing (ZF) precodings.
