본 논문에서는 새로운 6-단자 급전 회로망을 이용하여 이중 직교 원형 편파를 생성하는 소형 고이득 GPS 안테나 설계, 제작 및 성능에 관하여 기술한다. 제안된 6-단자 급전 회로망은 2개의 입력 직교 단자와 4개의 출력 단자(동일 진폭 & 0° 또는 180° 위상)들을 가지므로 선형 편파 특성을 갖는 4개의 방사 소자 급전에 적합하다. 소형화 및 고이득 특성을갖는 이중 직교 원형 편파 안테나 구현을 위하여, 안테나 중심부에 6-단자 급전 회로망을 두고, 외곽에 4개의 방사 소자들을 배치한다. 제한된 공간을 고려하여 선택된 방사 소자는 선형 편파 특성을 갖는 입체형 프린트 다이폴 소자로, 90°씩회전 배치된다. GPS L1 대역(1,575.42±12 MHz)에서 최적화 설계된 안테나의 크기는 직경(D) 130 mm(0.68 λ0), 높이 40 mm(0.21 λ0)이하이다. 벡터망 분석기로 측정된 안테나의 입력반사손실 및 단자간 격리 특성은 대역 내에서 각각 17.1 dB, 18.0 dB 이상으로 우수하다. 또한, 무반사실에서 측정된 안테나 이득 및 효율은 각각 8.69 dBi(@bore-sight) 이상 그리고 83 % 이상이며, 이중 직교 원형 편파의 축비 특성은 0.2 dB 이하(@bore-sight), 1.8 dB(@ 3 dB 빔폭) 이하로 매우 우수함을 알 수 있다.
