Abstract
Through-wall radar (TWR) transceiver for firefighting operation are introduced in the paper. To improve rescue efficiency under the limited visibility owing to the wall and smoke, impulse radio (IR) radar transceiver is adapted. To overcome difficulties in detection and to keep small size, the TWR is realized in a single chip with embedded radar control logic. The architecture is based on the coherent clock signals. Clock signals used in transmitting impulses and sampling the target echoes. Time-expansion and coherent reception is utilized for better signal-to-noise ratio (SNR). The radar transceiver is implemented in standard complementary metal oxide semiconductor (CMOS) technology. In pseudo-disaster conditions TWR is tested and the results are reported.
