Abstract
In this paper, we present a new satellite access technology for capacity/coverage enhancement and low latency (S-CELL technology) in a non-terrestrial network (NTN). The S-CELL technology is based on an overloaded transmission in code domain for UE overloading or data overloading in order to increase cell capacity and experienced user data rates and enhance cell coverage. The code-domain overloaded transmission technology is designed in a way to minimize impacts on 3GPP new radio (NR) based non-terrestrial network (NTN) specifications. Implementation complexity is also considered in the design. The proposed S-CELL technology can achieve the increase of capacity and low latency in an enhanced mobile Broadband (eMBB) and massive machine type communication (mMTC) scenario as well as the enhancement of coverage for a handheld UE.
